VIDEO: Help My Child Is Biting People
Parents are often horrified and embarrassed when their child sinks their teeth into others or even themselves for the first time! However, biting is actually a completely normal and natural part of a child’s development. In this video, Dr Vanessa discusses why children bite others and will help you understand what is going on in your child’s brain so that you can better understand the best approach to dealing with it.
ACTIVITY: Rice shaker dance party
A plastic water bottle and some uncooked rice make a great DIY musical instrument for your little person. They get some grip practice in, some rhythmic movement for motor skill development and self-spatial awareness while they shake their little booties. Rock out to the tunes of your choice, but we highly recommend Hush Little Baby, for obvious reasons!
ACTIVITY: Pillow obstacle course
The activity in this example is for bubs who are crawling, but it still works if your little one is up and about. Using couch cushions or other pillows and cushions to make an obstacle course or soft play areas is a great way to get your little one moving and experimenting with their physical parameters and skills. Hide some balls in between cushions for added fun!
