How To Parent Self Centred Kids

Resident expert Rachel Doherty answers a ParentTV members question.

“I have 3 daughters (4,7 and 10) I am also single Mum (for the last 4 years). My oldest daughter, Sophie, is very selfish and I would say narcissistic to a degree (her Dad is and favours her) so she seems very self-entitled and will argue and manipulate constantly. She can be lovely but is generally the one who puts a ”downer’ on any family time by creating drama. Please help – spending time with and giving her special times with her friends seems to reinforce her need to be No. 1 in our family. Thanks very much.”
